What Happens During a Reiki Session?

Connecting with your Energy

Before the session begins it’s beneficial to clear the space and your energy with incense or sage (This is optional). Next we will agree a comfortable space for you to sit or lay, the session is an hour long, so you want to make sure you are comfortable, with minimal distraction from discomfort.

Once your comfortable, we will open up our energetic connection through 5-10 minutes of deep breathwork. This process allows the energy to move more freely and opens the seeker (client) up to a relaxed state of being.

Reiki Application

Reiki starts with the calling in of energies, spirits, helpers and guides to assist in the process of energetic removal and restoration. We then start from the top of the head, activating the top of the auric field and slowly working down the rest of the body all the way to the feet. The initial pass serves as a full-body scan and loosens up the energy.

We then focus on key areas where the energy feels warm/hot; this sensation highlights blockages. Of course you can always instruct us beforehand which area you would like us to address if you have a specific area or problem you would like us to work on during the session. Once the session is finished, we brief you on our findings and what you should consider focusing on. We will also offer an email report suggesting better ways to manage the problem from an energetic perspective.

Please Note: During Reiki it is not uncommon to feel tingling or warmth throughout your body. Some people also feel their body turns to jelly during the process. It’s nothing to worry about, as the energy and the body work together to create a liquid (plasma) state that allows us to shift and work with your energy.

Filling the body with light energy

Clearing the negative energy opens up energetic holes in your aura that now need to be filled with new light energies. This process follows the same motion and movement as the Reiki application stage, but the focus is now shifted to adding energy rather than extracting.

Please note: During this stage it’s not uncommon to see colours. If you see any during the session, this is an indication of the chakras that need to be cleared. (Blue = Throat, Red = Root, Green = Heart etc).

Setting an Intention

We like to close the Reiki ceremony by setting an intention. It can be anything you desire, including abundance, wealth, better health, a new relationship, a promotion at work, etc. The most powerful time to manifest is during a period of heightened pure energy. You are essentially using the Reiki and new source energies that have been placed in you to create a new timeline. This will require continued conscious effort after the session in the form of daily affirmations, active action and continued energy work using practices (Tarot, pendulum dowsing, self-Reiki, meditation, etc.), or repeat sessions from us or the use of Realignment.

Aftercare

Energy work affects everyone differently, so it’s important to keep an eye on both your mental state and physical body during the next 24-72 hours. We always suggest that you drink plenty of water (bottled if available but optional). Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables also helps during this period (stay away from the processed foods, snacks and caffeine, if you can).

The body processes energy differently for physical and mental blockages and can often show the following aftereffects below:

Mental

• Tiredness – You will usually sleep much deeper and longer on the night of treatment. This can persist over the next few days.
• Emotional Response – At this time you may feel more open to sharing emotions and feelings you’ve stored for many years. Take this opportunity to open up; this is part of letting go.
• Hunger – Is a natural response, as your body will crave fresh energy. We also suggest fruit and vegetables. (Avoid processed foods.)
• Heightened Awareness – Some people feel high after energy work. A deeper awareness and a sense of self.
• Mental Clarity – Brain fog will begin to settle down, leaving a clearer mind. This also applies for ruminating thoughts.

Physical

• Sickness – If the energy problems are stored in the stomach area, sickness can often occur. It’s part of what we call the “purge”. The body is going through a rejection stage to clear old energies in the form of sickness.
• Heightened Pain – Pain will disappear after the initial treatment only to return again the next day worse. This is because your body is now focusing on this area and putting all of its energy into the repairing process. It’s like building muscle at the gym; you must tear the muscle in order for it to grow back stronger.
• Feeling Drained – Energy work can leave you feeling drained, as it’s a process most people have never experienced. Imagine running 5 miles for the very first time; the body isn’t used to it. So the process takes a lot out of you, but over time adapts. Plenty of rest and allowing yourself to relax is key at this stage.
